A Visit from RCE Team of the Netherlands

A meeting between Indonesian Railways Heritage with RCE Team of Netherlands at Indonesian Railways Heritage Office in Gambir Station

Preserving Indonesian railways which was done by Conservation and Heritage Unit PT KAI is a way to preserve, save and appreciate heritage assets. The conservation process needs knowledge or special skill which is crucial. Therefore, Conservation and Heritage Unit PT KAI held cooperation with Cultural Heritage Agency or Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE) which is a Heritage Institution from the Netherlands Government.

As a sign of corporation, RCE Team which was led by Jean Paul Corten visit Indonesia to discuss about conservation program by Indonesian team on Thursday, September 20, 2012. The meeting was held at Gambir Station between Conservation and Heritage Unit PT KAI and RCE Team, with a result of cooperation in research and collecting data and also conservation heritage training for PT KAI’s staffs.

On Tanjung Priuk Station, EVP Heritage and Conservation PT KAI Ella Ubaidi show the inscription of Tanjung Priuk Station to be a heritage building.

The team also observed several heritage stations in the 1st Jakarta Operational Area, which are Pasar Senen Station and Tanjung Priuk Station. Pasar Senen Station was made by a State Railway Company, Staatsspoorwegen and designed by architect J. Van Gendt in 1887. Tanjung Priuk Station is made by Staatsspoorwegen, a State Railway Company and designed by architect Ir. C. W. Koch. Both of these two stations amazed the group.
