Restoration ProgramPreserving Indonesia’s cultural heritages is based on Javanese cultural proverbs which are managing and conserving the surroundings. Therefore, it is beneficial for current and future generations. These Javanese proverbs are:
Indonesian Railways Conservation and Heritage Department has made a guideline about TECHNICAL CONSERVATION GUIDELINES OF RAILWAY BUILDING for the first step on establishing this department. These technical guidelines will be the main reference for conservation, preservation and revitalization of Indonesian heritage railway remains, in order to preserve its uniqueness and value. Therefore, it will not be extinct due to modernization of old buildings which did not use any conservation, preservation and revitalization principles and aesthetics towards the ancient and historic buildings. Based upon doctrine and mandate of UU No. 5 year 1992, Indonesian Railways Conservation and Heritage Department has done conservation, preservation or revitalization on the company’s materials and buildings which could still be used or not used, which are:

Historical heritage material preservation as mandate in UU No 5 Year 1992 especially from architectural aspect become one off it’s attractiveness. Old and historical building maintenance will become bridge for today and future. A nation will become bigger if they look to their past and took some learn from it. Preservation purpose is to protect, fixing old and historic buildings. Conservation is an action to keep old and historic building in whole with traditional and or modern ways by synthetic or today’s material. Old building term is used to show building or static object like building, settlement, historical sites, artistic, architecture, social, culture and science. Conservation consists of area maintenance including the building so cultural value that stored in it, like beauty, history, science and social in past, now and future still maintain. |
