Bandung station

Bandung station was first operated on May 17, 1884, together with the inauguration of the train network BandungBatavia (Jakarta) through Cianjur/Bogor, as the designated route BandungBatavia (Jakarta) through Purwakarta was open in 1916.

The now Bandung station was designed by EH de Roo in 1928, as the fourth station designed to accommodate the increase of the passengers from year to year. Bandung station is a one-sided station where incoming passengers go through the entrance gate directly connected with the ticket windows which are on the right and left sides. For out-coming passengers there are two doors on the left and right sides.

The passenger convenience is put into consideration with an open waiting room so that the arrival and departure of the train can be seen clearly. The waiting room is also equipped with counters which sell food.

The front hall is connected directly with both the incoming and out-coming passengers through a main gate with a horizontal door. The opening in the wall which is very conspicuous and attractive is the 'lunette'. The main lunette is rectangle consists of five small lunettes made of tin glass material dominated by blue and clear white.

The white color is arranged with a rectangle or squared pattern as base, while the blue color shaped triangle, rhombus, and rectangle function as the main ornaments.

The executive passengers, a special waiting room is provided as an innovation in improving service to the passengers.

Bandung station mass was built straightly, with the main mass at the front row wedged with a second mass on its side. The domination of rectangle or cube-shaped and a flat roof can be seen at the designed building. The right wing shortened than the left wing given a lovely-dynamic silhouette.

The main railway platform uses concrete structure with a triangle, rhombus and rectangle ornaments at the top columns. The bottom of the column is finished with a dark granule plaster. The detailed ornament on the top column uses geometric shapes such as triangle, rectangle found at most of the columns.

The extension of the railway platform roof is used a steel framed truss construction which is supported by a steel column profile and is painted.
