Rolling Stock

One of the unique train is the separation unit of a train driver and transport equipment being used. This resulted in separation of train equipment have an advantage that carriers can be bundled and released as needed. If for some reason drive unit must be replaced, it can be done easily without having to disrupt the transport equipment.

Drive unit is usually called a locomotive. The train that once operated in Indonesia : Steam Locomotive, Electric Locomotive and Diesel Locomotive. Carrier equipment called a car to transport passengers and wagon to transport goods. In addition to locomotives, cars and wagons still have the other equipment units that can move on the rail, ie Railway-Crane, Inspection Lorry, Work and Rail Road Maintenance Equipment Lorry.

The steam locomotive series is NIS 1 and NIS 2 made in Borsig factory, Germany. Furthermore, various types of locomotives began to be brought from Europe and America. The locomotives have a power to 1850 HP (horse power), for example, Indonesian largest steam locomotive is DD52. Starting in 1953, diesel locomotives began to come in and then replace the steam locomotives. Recently around the year 1980, the steam locomotive was not operated again except for a train tour.
